Today’s our last day at Turtle Cove; tomorrow, we’ll be headed home. I dread the fifteen-hour flight across the Pacific (and the twenty-four hours total we’ll spend in transit), but I am ready to be home.
We’ve had an incredible time here in Oz — most of it of our own making. I’ll post a more thorough review of the Turtle Cove resort later on, but for now, I’d give curious prospects the following advice: if you’re very single, and always travel in the company of many friends, and very much into beer, Turtle Cove will delight you to no end.
On the other hand, if you’re younger, settled to the point that you aren’t looking to bed some new beauty, or if your days of thinking beer is the greatest delight the world has to offer are past, you might do better somewhere else.
That’s not to say Clyde and I haven’t enjoyed ourselves here; quite the opposite. Turtle Cove has a great private beach, and its remote setting gives you the feeling you’re worlds away from any other place on earth. We’ve had a great time together here because we tend to have a great time together, wherever we are. But when we come back, we’ll pick another spot to work from.
And we will come back. Australia is beautiful, exotic, and — except here at the resort — extremely friendly. People are happy and open, and there’s more to do than can ever be done. Give us a year or two, and we’ll be back on the beach, walking together in the sun again.
Time to go! One last day in Cairns, then we’re off.
