We had the best of intentions on our Australian trip, packing our Power 90 DVD and exercise cords into our suitcases. Our first morning there, we actually got up early and went through the resistance training routine … despite jet lag and the allure of Sydney just outside our hotel room window.
Fantasies about doing our Power 90 on holiday, however, quickly turned to exactly that: fantasies. I had pictured us on the beach near Cairns, stretching and push-upping and Power Yoga-ing our way to continued fitness … but we allowed (a bit too eagerly) a technical glitch in our portable player to confound our good intentions.
And while we never over-ate on this trip (the food, frankly, wasn’t all that great), we did eat many things we would otherwise avoid, indulging in the occasional bag of full-fat potato chips, those wonderful Drumstick ice cream cones, meat pies and sausage rolls for breakfast, and mousse cake for dessert.
We must have walked up a storm, though. Upon my return, I step on the scale with some trepidation … and discover, with great pleasure, I’ve lost a pound. At 211, I’m lighter than I’ve been in years.
