Back in Jackson, I’m on the prowl for a good book. I stop by Books-a-Million, browse a few minutes, then head out to Flowood to Borders.
In the Tarot section, I encounter a copy of Putting the Tarot to Work.
My heart skips a beat. This is a moment I’ve talked about all my life: walking into a bookstore and seeing one of my books on the shelf. Seeing a box full of my books arrive at my house was a joy. Signing a couple hundred publisher-supplied copies in Orlando made me giddy with excitement.
Seeing my book awaiting purchase on the shelf of the local Borders Books is something else entirely.
I pick it up. I run my hands over the slick cover. Despite the fact I have a dozen copies at the house, I consider buying it. I put it back on the shelf, walk a few paces away, and admire how the lime green cover gleams in the florescent light.
This is my book.
Guess it’s time to come up with a new dream.
