A Letter to Miss Behavior

A Letter to Miss Behavior

Dear Miss Behavior:

Years ago, I was a member of an ugly-spirited fundamentalist church and a closeted homosexual. I left both that church and the closet behind more than a decade ago.

Frequently, upon meeting friends from days gone by, there comes a moment in otherwise polite conversation when they feel compelled to lean forward, grip me by the arm, and whisper, “I just want you to know that, while I still love you, I think your homosexual lifestyle is a sinful one.”

I’m having trouble resisting the urge to lean forward, grip them by their arms, and whisper back, “I just want you to know that, while I still love you, I think you’re an idiot.”

Your advice would be much appreciated.
