On our way to Toronto, we receive a call from one of our most trusted Video Llibrary employees. He tells Clyde, “I just walked into Barnes and Noble in Jackson … and Mark’s book is up front on the New in Paperback tables!”

The call made my day. Today, we get more news, thanks to Amazon.com. Amazon ranks its books according to their sales; for authors, this can be a real-time way of feeling out response to a book.

Prior to release, Putting the Tarot to Work ranked as the 1,300,000th best-selling book on Amazon.com. That sounds dismal; in fact, that’s fine for a book that’s not even officially been released yet. (You gotta start somewhere, after all.)

Today, the book leapfrogged to being 85,000th. There probably aren’t many authors in America who are excited to be eighty-five thousandth in line for anything … but from the perspective of a first-time author, this is great news.
