Today, Clyde surprises me with a delicious variety of flavored coffee pods — specifically designed to work with our miraculous Senseo coffee maker.

They’re from Java Podz (available through Amazon.com). The variety of flavors stuns me: Swiss Chocolate Almond, Dark Chocolate Raspberry, Mocha Cinnamon Swirl, Kahlua Creme.

Clyde’s ordered us the variety pack — 15 pods of various flavors, for a total of 90 pods. (If you order a variety pack from Amazon.com, be aware you can get free shipping by entering the coupon code, valuepak, when you check out.)

Within seconds, I’m savoring a hot mug of Chocolate Cappuccino. The balance of chocolate and coffee flavor is just right — with a touch of milk and a pack of sweetener, I’m in Chocoholic Heaven. I love Senseo coffe in general … but these gourmet packs take the experience to an entirely new level.

If you own a Senseo, you’re aware that some alternative pods are too fat or too wide; once inserted, they gum up the works and cause messy leaks. This is not a problem with the JavaPods — even though they contain enough coffee for (and should be used to brew) two four-ounce cups or one eight-ounce cup.

(For a real treat — add a touch of Smucker’s caramel syrup to the Chocolate Cappuccino. You’ll never buy an expensive drive-through coffee drink again.)
