When I created the Bright Idea Deck, I wanted to create something useful. I wanted the cards to be a powerful, flexible tool for generating ideas and insights … a creative partner in the form of a deck of cards.
It’s rewarding, then, to read that Bruce Holland Rogers, whose stories have won the Nebula Award, the Pushcart Prize, and the Bram Stoker Award (among others), worked with the Bright Idea Deck while writing his latest short story. In his online journal, Rogers provides a glimpse into his personal writing process … and an intriguing look at how one successful author is using the cards as a creative muse!
I stumbled on Bruce’s great book, WordWork, more than a year ago; it’s a favorite I’ve recommended again and again. He’s particularly clever at marketing his work. His subscription service is particularly innovative: for just five dollars a year (what a bargain!) you can receive, a couple of times a month, Bruce’s freshly minted stories.
