Since upgrading my antique (1.0) iPhone to 2.0 software, the process of backing up the phone — a routine that runs every time the iPhone is attached to my computer — has become a time-consuming affair, often taking an hour or more to complete. It’s a pain.
Today, though, Daring Fireball pointed to this blog post, which suggested a quick and easy fix:
Since upgrading to the iPod 2.0 firmware and beginning to install Apps from the App Store synching on my iPod Touch has gotten slower and slower …Then the other night I noticed one comment in a thread ( which I can’t now recall ) that mentioned USB hubs possibly being at fault … Now quite why this should fix the problem I am not clear but solve it it certainly did.
Sure enough: when my iPhone is plugged directly into my computer, backup and synch are much faster than they are through a powered Belkin USB hub.
Hi Mark, glad my post sorted your problem with iPhone sync. It seems the split between those it fixes and those it doesnt is about equal, just glad you were one of those who it worked for.
Cheers
