Here’s an episode of an online dance show unlike anything you’ve probably ever seen:
While never a fan of “Dancing with the Stars,” we’ve enjoyed several seasons of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance.” By virtue of their format, though, both shows tend to package dance into short, compressed slices of time.
The League of Extraordinary Dancers is trying something completely different — fusing the dance numbers with dramatic elements, creating set pieces that exploit and challenge the established format in interesting ways, and expanding the visual vocabulary of televised dance beyond the standard two-minute routine.
It’s refreshing to see talented people doing what they do without the pressure to vote or the threat of someone having to “dance for her life.”
