Chelsea Recommends Big Daddy Biscuits

ChelseaInPark

Yesterday was one of those rare early-Summer days in Atlanta: a sunny Saturday morning with bright skies, low humidity, and a faint, delicious chill in the air. When we walked outside on our way to the Piedmont Park Green Market, it felt like a southern California day had been delivered to Georgia by mistake.

We got to the market early, and many vendors were still setting up. One, though, was ready: a smiling rep from Big Daddy Biscuits. In fact, she had a big bowl of samples out … and a big smile ready for Chelsea, who, as it turned out, was the potential customer she was really trying to impress.

Big Daddy Biscuits makes artesian, all-natural dog biscuits: turkey bacon bites, cheesy bites, and even “pupcakes,” all made with a passion for locally-grown, farm-to-table ingredients. But the item that caught our eye? After dinner mints.

Yes. After dinner mints. For dogs.

These mints didn’t look like anything I expected. Instead of sugary little pastel cubes, these mints are heavy duty. In fact, they look a bit like hunks of charcoal:

Mints

That’s probably because they’ve got charcoal in ’em: activated charcoal for digestion, that is … along with brown rice, flour, parsley, and mint.

At first, Chelsea was hesitant (“What is this? A rock?”), but once The Sniff-a-Lyzer kicked in, she took the mint, ran to the living room, and crunched it right up. It must have been a good experience, too, because she’s already committed the crinkly sound of the little plastic bag these come in to memory. Crinkle crinkle crinkle? There’s Chelsea.

And since her favorite cuddle time is right after dinner — when hot, meaty dog breath is at its strongest! — these should really come in handy, as they do a good job of neutralizing some of that “I’ve just eaten some roadkill” odor.

In short: good folks, with a good philosophy … and a Chelsea-approved product. If ya got a pup in residence, check ’em out.
