Home Again and Top Thai Moments

Home Again and Top Thai Moments

Photo

After 22 hours dangling at 33,000 feet (which is no great achievement, really, especially compared to what Felix Baumgartner managed just yesterday), we arrived home yesterday afternoon around 2 PM.

One of my favorite things about travel? Seeing the familiar world back home with fresh eyes. After the crush, craziness, and sprawl of Bangkok, Midtown Atlanta looks and feels like a city from the far-flung future: clean, sleek, green, and placid.

As is my custom, I thought I’d share my list of Top Ten Thai Moments from the trip, along with a smaller, more manageable photo album of twenty-five or so great shots from the trip.

Top Ten Thai Moments

That moment in the mountain shrine, after our 25-story walk up.

Striking out to Koh Kret on our own to visit the market and see the sights.

Our night time walking tour of Chinatown eateries with Guy from Bangkok Food Tours

Cooking with Chef Noi at Baipai Cooking School

Our “out of the blue” lunch at Blue Elephant.

The day trip to Lopburi with Mickey from Purple Dragon to see the monkey temple.

Seeing the rainbow above Bangkok the morning after the storms.

Shopping at Chatuchack Market, MBK, Siam Paragon, and Central World.

Dinner at Sirocco, 65 floors above Bangkok, in the open air.

A crazy evening walk that ended at McDonald’s and the fried tuna pies.
