Wii Fit Update: Day 30

Wii Fit Update: Day 30

wiifit1.jpg I’ve been using the Wii Fit balance board for a month now. Here are my results:

Weight. My weight has dropped 11.5 pounds in 30 days. I’m seeing that weight loss in my face, neck, and tummy, and I very much like what I see so far.

Shape. I’m seeing some definition and shaping, particularly in my sides, stomach, legs, and arms. Not corded muscle, by any means — but I’m definitely looking firmer than I did when I started.

Size. I’ve gone from a 40″ waist to a 38″ waist.

Status. I work out in the mornings, first thing. As a result, I carry a little “buzz” through out the day. An unexpected benefit: I’m sleeping much better at night.

Exercise. More than anything else, the Wii Fit has changed my attitude about exercise. Every morning, I find myself looking forward to starting my day with a blend of yoga, strength-building exercises, aerobics, and

When we left the Wii behind while traveling for Father’s Day, I found myself itching to exercise in the mornings — something that’s never happened to me, ever, in my entire life. (I substituted 30 minutes on my father-in-law’s treadmill for my daily Wii Fit session.) In Vegas, where I refused to pay the $25.00 the TI resort wanted to charge me for a half-hour on their treadmills, I substituted brisk walks (in the 110-degree heat, no less).

For the first time, I’m really curious about the exercise machines in our condo’s health club, and I expect that, soon, I’ll be down there on the bikes or the treadmill, especially since I’ve discovered how easy it is to read while walking or biking.

Diet. I’m not on a diet. While losing weight, I’ve been eating pizza and ice cream on a regular basis.

Really.

Now, I have engineered a few lifestyle changes. Instead of eating an entire pizza, I have a maximum of two slices (one slice if the slices are huge), and I pair that with a spinach salad. Instead of eating a triple scoop ice cream, I go to Paulo’s and have a tiny cone or half a serving of my favorite flavor. I’m eating more salads and green vegetables … and I’ve reduced fried foods. (Instead of a bag of fries, I have five … instead of a bowl of chips, I have seven … and instead of a platter of egg rolls, I have half of one.)

As a result, I’m eating better without having to diet. I have all my favorite foods, but in reasonable portions. I haven’t felt deprived … not even once.

Verdict: One month in, I’m absolutely hooked … and absolutely delighted. If, like me, you’ve tried every crazy diet out there and abandoned them … the Wii Fit may be exactly what you’re looking for.

  • And it’s noticeable… Not having seen you for the month you’ve been working out with Wii Fit, I noticed the results when I saw you on Sunday. Keep up the good work!
