Thankful

Today, I am thankful that I do not live in a storm-ravaged house. I am thankful that friends in Jackson are safe.

I am thankful to have a job and insurance. I am thankful to have a seven-minute walking commute.

I am thankful for Spring, and blossoming trees, and late Sunday afternoon sun. I am thankful to have a home life free of drama, and a partner whose body and brain and soul and spirit still delight me after fifteen years of marriage.

I am thankful for Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches and Little Azio pizza. I am thankful to be healthy. I am thankful to be home.

I am thankful for these things, and for so many others.

Tonight, sitting here on my couch, with Clyde beside me, I am truly, deeply happy, and thankful for every moment I’m given.
