Life in a CraigsList City

Life in a CraigsList City

Friends in Atlanta have long raved about craigslist.org, where local people buy, sell, swap, and trade most anything. (There’s a version for Jackson, Mississippi, but so few locals are savvy to its charms, there’s not much use in hanging out there.)

This is definitely not the case here in Atlanta, where, apparently, craigslist is the way to draw attention to whatever you have to offer, from pets to personals. Once we realized our Restoration Hardware coffee table wouldn’t fit in our new condo, we placed an ad on craigslist and sold it — at full asking price — in less than eighteen hours. That blue leather chair we couldn’t fit into the new living room? Sold.

When the time comes to upgrade my beloved 12′ PowerBook to a snazzy new MacBook (and that time’s drawing nearer, especially since I now have $100 in Apple Store credit to blow), I’m happy to know I can put it on craigslist and find a buyer … fast. [link]
