We started the morning back at Angkor, where I got this incredible shot of a fertility temple bathed in the rays of the rising sun.
Rising sun, of course, means rising temperatures — and by 9:00 here, we were enjoying temps of more than ninety-five degrees. The heat is unexpectedly exhausting, and by lunch, were were soaked to the skin in our own perspiration.
But still — wow. We loved every minute of the morning, and the nephews were bowled over by what locals now call the “Laura Croft temple.” (Angelina and Brad are much loved here in Siem Reap.) Back at the hotel, we took a short swim, then took off for lunch at Figo — a place not much used to serving lunch for families of eight.
Powerful storms swept into town and dropped the temperature a full twenty degrees before our afternoon trek began, and we found ourselves touring beneath overcast skies in comfortable, air-conditioned coolness. Nice!
