My government tells me we responded to victims of Hurricane Katrina in a timely manner.
But I keep seeing and hearing things like this*.
Heartbreaking. Just heartbreaking.

Haven’t written you in a while, but I too am astounded at the gibberish spewed forth by FEMA…I was watching CNN yesterday (Saturday, 9/3) when the director (didn’t get his name, doesn’t matter ’cause he doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground) calmly explained that it took time to “mobilize the troops”…hell, it didn’t take four days when “W” decided to seek revenge for Daddy…but then again, we wouldn’t want to disrupt W’s vacation, would we?
Hi, Mark. It’s good to hear from you again.
What stuns me is the vast difference between what eyewitnesses tell me is going on and what FEMA says is going on.
Mississippi’s own governor, Mr. Barbour, when responding to Aaron Broussard’s emotional statement, praised the Federal response. Just this morning, Clyde and I spoke with local aid workers who told us that Federal workers were nowhere to be found in Biloxi.
Now, with stories in wide circulation of FEMA turning away civilian boat crews, shipments of food and water, and offers of aid from nearby states, Americans should demand to know who authorized that behavior and why.
People who read this site know I have no great love for my President. For me, though, this incident transcends party lines. As an American, I want my government to fulfill its mission and respond to a national crisis with intelligence and compassion.
Currently, my government is responding with denial, spin, platitude, and lies. I feel betrayed and ashamed.
