New Features!

New Features!

Every night, on quiet little cat feet, new features are creeping into MadeByMark.com. A few worth noting include:

  • Again, with the Comments! The oldest version of MadeByMark.com was packed with lively discussion, until nasty comment spammers spoiled the fun. Now anyone can join the discussion (and I hope you will). Comments are moderated — if you’re a spammer, your posts will never see the light of day — but once I see that a post is from a real human being, up it goes.
  • Eavesdrop more easily. On the right, just under the "Recent Posts" bar, is the new "Recent Comments" bar. Some of the best discussions are going on behind the scenes, in the comments. Look who’s talking — and join in, why don’t ‘cha?
  • Random Pix each time you clix. Every time you return to MadeByMark.com, our computers serve up a random little slice of my life with Clyde, the World’s Most Wonderful Man. The collection grows weekly.
  • What’s on Mark’s iPod? Or Mark’s reading table? Or Mark’s Humax Tivo/DVD combo? New media bars, down below the Posts and Comments bars on the right, are constantly updated. If you like me or think like me, these entries may turn you on to some great new stuff. If you don’t like me or don’t think like me, you can add them to your list of Things to Avoid.
  • Tasty Text Ads. Most sites these days have Google ads; "I’ve decided to follow the multitude to do evil" and put text ads in the left-hand column. Seriously, though: every time you click a text ad on this site, Google mails me a penny. So make ’em pay! Click! Click! Click!
  • Worth a Look. Near the bottom of the right-hand column, you’ll find a few sites I believe are worth your time. These get swapped out from time to time. If you’ve got an eye out for fresh web content, click on through.
  • A New Mission. While I’ll still make the occasional posts on Tarot, technology, and media, the overwhelming focus of the site is reflected by the new tagline: Faith, Food, and Family. If you’re into these, you’ll feel right at home.

  • Hi Mark,

I really love the new features and formatting!

Is there a way to scroll through the random picture album instead of repeatedly logging in and out of your website, overstating hits?

Thanks and hope to see you in LA next month!

  • Hi, Karren! It’s good to hear from you … and thanks for the note.

Currently, the photo feature draws on a pool of specially-cropped photos. Currently, there’s no easy way to scroll through ’em.

Many of the same pictures, though, are available through my public Flickr account (and it would be easier to see ’em there, too). I’ve added a link to my Flickr.co feed to the “Worth a Look” bar on the right. Feel free to follow the link and have a glimpse at the photo albums there!

Here’s to seeing you and Alan in LA!
