Lottery Fever

Lottery Fever

Florida reported the largest unclaimed lottery jackpot in their history today.

Someone, somewhere, bought a quick-pick ticket at a Miami food mart. The store computer obligingly imprinted their ticket with the winning numbers: 22-23-35-45-50-53. Today, one hundred and eighty days later, the ticket expired.

Fifty million dollars went unclaimed. That’s:

– sixteen million, nine-hundred and ninety-four thousand, one hundred and fifty two Big Mac sandwiches.

– more money than I would have earned had I worked for SkyTel/MCI for more than 550 years.

– three million retail-priced copies of my new book, Putting the Tarot to Work.

– $1,207,729 per year for the rest of my life, if I live as long as the Life Clock predicts. Or, by doing what Clyde would do, I could earn $900,000 per year in Orange Account interest without ever touching my principal.

– more than I could get by selling my soul 1,414 times.

– less than 1/1500th of what President Bush and the U.S. Government has spent so far on the war in Iraq, according to CostOfWar.com.

All that life-changing potential, won by someone … lost today.
